When I made my reservation to stay at Sea Rim, the ranger I spoke with asked me if I wanted to stay at the campground or on the beach. I said, “What you talking about – on the beach?”
She said that if the tide was working in my favor I could actually overnight in Betty on the beach. “Well, yuh”. Of course, the beach was the only option.
The moon was in my favor, so the tides were in my favor, and it turned out that I was the only one to choose to beach it that night. Well, except for some flying protein that tried really hard to break through Betty’s defenses and get to the main course – that being me!
It was a wonderful beach, especially given that I was the only one on it. Aside from the bugs there were other avian types that came by and paid a quick visit and kept me company for a little while. Then there was the flyover that I saw repeatedly up and down the Gulf over the days that I was traveling.
For some reason, I shot more videos than pictures while I was at Sea Rim, so here they are:

Truth be told, however, and in the end, I found that sleeping 30 feet from the roiling surf makes for a sleepless night. Yes, the rhythmic sound of the waves was soothing to a certain extent, but the volume of those rhythmic waves was just too loud to tune out so when I headed out the next morning, I was very bleary-eyed. I tried it one more time down near South Padre Island but with the same results.
