I’ve always wanted to safely (emphasis on “safely”!) visit a bayou. And while there were most definitely gator trails heading out into the swamplands, this was about as safe as it would get, I guess. The walkways were elevated, the roads were bordered by fences, and the shorelines were clear of potential hiding spots.
Met a nice couple from Indiana – she being a nurse and he being a prosthetic designer who showed off his product by rolling up a pant leg. On the political front, his company, because of DOGE, lost their VA contract and the company had to lay off a significant portion of the employees.
Enough politics… on my walk I saw some nice fauna including what looked to be a massive snake. I took a quick little video and sent it to my biologist sister, and I fooled her good (I love teasing her!). It was actually one of those perimeter barrier socks that is used for erosion control. But, seriously, it looked like a massive snake when I first saw it.
