Notes

It was at this stage of the trip that I started talking to CoPilot in order for it to record random thoughts, observations, ruminations and general notes. You will see that they all (well, most of them) start with a number in the low- to mid-20000s. This was Betty’s odometer reading, which I verbalized, at the time that CoPilot recorded the message.

The Notes from the Road, so to speak, will all be in italics with my follow up comments in regular font directly below the notes.

that I followed a chicken truck
When I was leaving Skyline Dr, I got stuck behind a very slow 18 wheeler on the two lane, very twisty, 40 mph road and as the road wound it’s way down the mountain I noticed what I thought was big, fluffy, white pollen trailing in the wake of the truck. Slowly turned into a blizzard. As I finally passed the truck I realized the “pollen puffs” were actually white feathers being blown off an 18-wheeler’s worth of hundreds of chickens!

it’s amazing how you can be hundreds and hundreds of miles away and you get a sales call using an old business you used to own and they want to sell you solar panels

Clean your databases, People!

22814 just passed the church that says you are never too lost to be saved… what do you think
?
Needless to say, on a 10,000-mile journey, there were a few occasions where the spiritual and existential raised their ponderous voices. I ignored them 😉

22830 another chicken truck

How many cluck-cluck trucks should I be expecting to see on this trip? Turns out this was the last one.

22847 thank God Owen you didn’t go to Liberty University

The Falwell founded university was pretty much in your face as you are driving along the highway and it takes up both sides of the road.

22853 Jerry Falwell Parkway

22898 Chatham South Boston

We, ‘muricans, are so creative in our geographical namings. To wit, the town of Chatham in Mass then in Virginia as well and South Boston and then just good ole “Main St”. I mean how boring!
