23277 squashed armadillo
Up north we have raccoons, possums, rabbits, etc. for roadkill. Down here they have dead armadillos
23435 paralleling 95
Frustrating when the alternate roadway parallels the interstate. I mean, what’s the use of getting off the beaten path when the interstate is literally 50 yards away?
23445 Magnolia alley canopy
There were multiple majestic Magnolia alleyways that I enjoyed during this southern section. All adorned with copious curtains of Spanish moss, of course.
23456 that’s all just a cool number
Ok, call me a geek. I just love numbers that are neat and tidy. Like on a clock…12:34, 1:11, 2:22,…, 5:55, 6:66, etc.. 😉
23467 welcome to Georgia
Oh, joy, the land of Marjorie Taylor-Smith. Yippee! And Gaaaack!
23497 so many churches
South Carolina certainly had its share of churches but nowhere near the volume that I experienced starting in Georgia and continuing all the way through Florida, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana. It seemed that nary a mile would pass and I would come across small, single room churches of myriad denominations. How the local populations could sustain the sheer number of churches was hard to comprehend given how rural the areas were.
23504 Next Generation Deliverance Center Church
And they all had very unique names
23514 world’s smallest Church
This church was nicely decorated but no bigger than a port-a-pot (no comment). As to whether or not it was actually the world’s smallest church I can’t say but they did make that claim, not I.
23558 gatekeeper from Gorham New Hampshire
When I registered at the entrance to Jekyll Island, the gatekeeper saw my license plate and informed me that he grew up in Gorham, NH. Later on, at another campsite (Grants, NM), the Camp Host was from Alton, NH. Small, small world!
